Going into this week I had no idea what an RSS Feed Reader was. After completing the discovery and hands on activities I can surely say that I will continue to use my feedly reader long after the completion of this course. This tool will help me to keep up to date on current events because it is one convenient place I can visit to receive all of my information on multiple topics and from multiple sources. I believe that this tool can be placed beneath all categories on my PLE diagram from last week because it is not restricted to one specific topic. My favourite feature of the feedly reader is that it allows me to categorize all of my subscriptions, therefore I can use the tool for work and school related purposes as well as for entertainment purposes.
RSS Feed Readers have contributed immensely to my new-found digital literacy because it has helped me to become a more efficient digital citizen. There are so many different outlets of information on the internet it is often challenging to know what websites to visit. My feedly reader has made it very easy for me to find and evaluate information from reputable sources, such as the Toronto Star and the New York Times. I will be sure to share my knowledge about RSS Feed Readers with my friends and family so that they can improve their digital literacy as well.
