Report and Reflection (Week 4)

This week we focused mostly on using the diigo online bookmarking tool. As a first-time user I found diigo very confusing and complicated. I believe that with the amount of online information I am looking to collect in my daily life, diigo is too much for me. I will often pin websites that I want to revisit to my task bar using the preexisting bookmarking tool on my computer, and have never had a problem with loosing information.  However, I can see how diigo would be extremely useful for individuals who do a lot of online research for their school or work, and are curating large amounts of online information on a daily basis. I would categorize diigo under the school section of my PLE diagram which I made in week 2, because if I were to use diigo it would most likely be for school related purposes.

Over the past two weeks as I have been exposed to numerous digital tools, I am learning the importance of being an efficient and effective digital citizen. The feedly reader and diigo both promote online efficiency and effective digital curation. I enjoyed using the feedly reader very much and have continued to use it over the past week. When I logged on to my feedly account today the first thing that caught my attention was this article. The article is about an international student from Nigeria who partnered with Unicef Brock to host a fundraiser called Roses for Refugees. I found the article hugely inspiring and I encourage you all to check it out. This discovery also made me realize that I can use my feedly reader to stay up to date on important events happening at Brock while I am living at home on my co-op work term.

Until next time,
Rebecca :)
