An item of interest that I found through my feedly reader is the following blog post:
http://studysuccessful.com/should-you-get-a-masters-degree/
The post is called Should You Get a Master's Degree? and it was found on the blog StudySuccessful. As I was scrolling through my feedly reader this blog post stood out to me because I am currently in my second semester of fourth year and a lot of my friends are considering furthering their education through a master's degree. Personally, I have no desire to advance my education through a master's degree in accounting for a number of reasons, all of which were mentioned in the blog post. The blog post first talked about determining what your main goal is for getting the degree. It mentioned that many people get their master's degree so that they can receive a higher salary than someone who only has a bachelor's degree in the same field. However, if this is your main goal the blog post warned individuals to do their research because this is not always the case. Secondly, the blog post discussed the financial cost of getting a master's degree and managing classes. It mentioned that getting a master's degree can be very expensive depending on what school you attend, therefore many students work and go to school at the same time. This can make it very hard to manage your classes and can result in little time left for leisure activities. For the reason, it is very important to weigh your pros and cons before finalizing any decision's on pursuing a master's degree.
I found this blog post very interesting and extremely relevant to my personal life as a student. I look forward to making many more thought-provoking discoveries through my feedly reader.
Until next time,
Rebecca
